Are women really more money savvy? I wonder…

More than ever there is buzz about women and finances. In the past year even the “big financial houses” have decided that they need to pay attention to women. It seems they are noticing the statistics regarding women’s growing influence on money decisions.  It is true, many studies show the favorable results from women investors, the positive influence from women in finance, the expanding education of women in matters of money.  But woman and money is NOT new news.

Women have always played an integral role in our society – both at the familial level and cultural level. It is just within the last five years that recognition is surfacing. My suggestion is to dig deeper. Instead of focusing on women, explore what it is about women that creates progress in money matters? Instead of making this a gender thing, make it a human learning space. What is it about women that supports money savvy? I wonder…
